A little town called “Kringelköping”

A turntable animation of the little town called “Kringelköping” that is my group of hardworkers’ final project for this semester and contribution to the DesignFestival 09.

Time of day…

Here are some more previews of the city at different times during the day:

morningdaynight

We’re almost done with the modelling phase of it all, it’s just some small details left. I’ve started looking in to the lightning issue, and sort of decided on physical sky and sun. It seemed good enough for what we are trying to do. These previews have skies included but they are just there cause I didn’t want to have a black background. The end result will more than likely not like this, unless something goes wrong.

And so the grass grows…

The dynamic project is finally done! Alltough some minor problems I am content with the outcome..most of the time. Some stuff bugs me but whatever I need a break from deadlines for a day or two.

The scene is done by Henric Hedin.
The dynamic effects are: fur (with spread textures), nCloth and a tad bit of particles.

Hope you like it!

Work in progress…

I made this painting for a drawing class I’m taking, and it’s the first time I’ve done something like this in photoshop. It’s done with a wacom pen and photoshop. The refrence photograph I used is of Rocky Mountains.

The assignment was to draw a landscape but with the “wrong” colors. I didn’t have time to finish all the details cause of the dynamics project I’m working on, but it’s something I’ll probably do later.

A small preview of my dynamics project.

Dynamic Box

I got an assignment in school called “Dynamic Box” and I was suppose to create a dynamic effect on 4 sides of a box. We had to include fluids, particles/nparticles, ncloth and a dynamic effect of our choosing. So I chose grass/fur and decided to make it spread. It was more of a test for finale dynamic project since I hadn’t tested spread textures before. The last thing in the clip is just all of the dynamic effects combined and it’s the idea that I got when I got the assignment in the first place. So everything comes from that.

Cloud = Fluids
Rain = Particles
Streamers = nCloth (& air Fields)
Grass = Fur (preset grass) with baldness texture

And the fat lady sings *lalalala*

So the animation is done and so is the presentation. All went good except that my teacher accidently posted the wrong resolution which ended up making my animation look like a square. Allthough the squared resolution doesn’t change the animation or the story much at all, it just bugs me.

Here comes the donkey!

Here’s a quick clip of the donkey. I have to say I think he looks better in the real animation. Hope you like it.

A little somethin’ somethin’

Sound on, please! Otherwise it’s not as good.

Problems…

I was planning to have started with my animation today, but bumped into problems. The character’s rigg wouldn’t work like it was designed to. So I had to spend hours troubleshooting and playing around with paint weights to get it sorted out. I think it’s ok now, but I didn’t have time to animate the character to the extent that I would know for sure.

I’ve started setting up cameras in the scene so I can plan all the camera angles. Tomorrow I will animate most of the animation, hopefully all of it, although seeing as I’m always having problems with everything I’m not expecting to.

Tomorrow I will be able to do test renders and add them here.

If there’s time left when everything is done. I might be able to do a bloopers scene that will run during the credits. Otherwise I’ll do it and add it here and it’ll be exclusive content ;P.
